What I Learned From Redesigning ProFusion Web Solutions’ Website.

You know the old saying, "The cobbler’s kids have no shoes"? Well, for a long time, that was ProFusion Web Solutions. Our own website was overdue for a refresh, but as a business owner juggling client projects, it was hard to prioritize our own.

Recently, we finally crossed the finish line on a complete redesign of our site, and while I’m thrilled with the results, the process taught me a lot—about myself, my team, and what our clients go through during their own web projects. Here are the biggest lessons I learned:

Lessons Learned | Redesigning PFWS Website

Delegate What You Can

I’ll admit it: I’m a bit of a control freak. I wanted to oversee every detail of the redesign, which slowed things down. But as the to-do list kept growing, I realized I couldn’t do it all myself. Delegating tasks to my team—each of whom brought their own expertise—was a game-changer. ProFusion isn’t just me; we’re a team of skilled professionals, and trusting them was the best decision I could have made.

Takeaway for Clients: Trust the experts you’ve hired. Delegating frees you to focus on the aspects of your project that truly need your attention.

Make a List of Must-Haves:

The scope of the redesign felt overwhelming at first, but once I broke it down into “must-haves” and “nice-to-haves,” it became much more manageable. Instead of aiming for perfection, I focused on the core elements the site needed to succeed.

Takeaway for Clients: Prioritize what’s most important for your website—clear navigation, fast load times, and content that reflects your brand. You can always add more features later.

Set Non-Negotiable Time to Work

I had to carve out dedicated time each day to focus on the redesign. This meant muting notifications, closing my email, and saying no to distractions. It wasn’t always easy, but setting aside non-negotiable time moved the project forward in a way that sporadic efforts never could.

Takeaway for Clients: Your website deserves your full attention. Block out specific time to review content, provide feedback, or approve designs. Consistency will keep the project moving.

Done is Better than Perfect

This was a tough one for me. I had to remind myself that a website is never truly finished. It’s a living, breathing reflection of your business, and it will evolve over time. Getting it live was more important than agonizing over every detail.

Takeaway for Clients: Don’t let perfection hold you back. Get your website live and refine it as your business grows.

Your Website Is a Work in Progress

Once the redesign was complete, I immediately thought of new ideas and updates to add. And that’s how it should be. A website isn’t static—it’s a platform that evolves with your business and industry.

Takeaway for Clients: Treat your website as an ongoing project. Regular updates keep it fresh, relevant, and aligned with your goals.

Walking a Mile in Our Clients’ Shoes

Redesigning our site gave me a newfound appreciation for what our clients experience. It’s not easy to juggle business priorities while focusing on a major project like a website. I’ve walked that mile, and I now have even more empathy for the process.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your own web project, know that it’s normal—and that we’re here to help. At ProFusion, we’ve been in your shoes, and we’re ready to make the process as seamless as possible for you.
